Peri-implant Soft Tissue Reconstruction Challenges and Perspectives

Program
What to expect?

The structural integrity and aesthetics appearance of the peri-implant mucosa remain central concerns in modern implant dentistry. In the posterior region, the clinical focus is primarily on biological factors – particularly the presence of a keratinized, thick, and attached mucosa. In contrast, in the aesthetic zone, the emphasis shifts toward achieving a harmonious and natural appearance.
Precise planning of initial incisions, surgical flap design, flap mobilization, and suturing technique are critical determinants of successful outcomes. A thorough understanding of the histologic structure of the palatal mucosa – widely regarded as the ideal donor site for soft
tissue auto grafts – is also fundamental. Equally important is the knowledge of how these grafts biologically integrate around teeth and implants during early wound healing. Together, these insights form the foundation for contemporary soft tissue management and are
essential for meeting the increasingly high aesthetic and functional expectations of today’s patients.
This 2-day hands-on workshop offers a deep dive into the latest clinical concepts and techniques for the reconstruction and management of peri-implant soft tissues. Participants will explore both theoretical principles and practical applications, including the most advanced clinical strategies currently available. Under the expert supervision of Dr. Otto Zuhr, attendees will perform a series of practical exercises designed to strengthen their surgical skills and clinical confidence.
