How to minimize/avoid surgery for periimplantitis and severe periodontitis? A novel therapeutical concept

Despite thorough hygiene measures, in many cases, infectious diseases like mucositis, shallow peri-implantitis as well as severe periodontitis cannot be successfully controlled non-surgically and require invasive interventions. The CLEAN&SEAL non-surgical therapy contributes to shifting or even avoiding surgeries in cases of mucositis, shallow peri-implantitis, and severe periodontitis.

Prof. Anton Friedmann covers the scientific and clinical data for the new CLEAN&SEAL therapy, method based on a two-step approach:

1. Decontamination of the pocket by means of mechanical instrumentation supported by an amino acid-buffered hypochlorite cleaning gel (PERISOLV).

2. Filling/Sealing the cleaned pocket with cross-linked hyaluronic acid (hyaDENT BG) to protect from reinfection and to accelerate and promote the wound and tissue healing.

The lecture covers the challenges to treating severe periodontitis and periimplantitis, the current treatment options available, the therapeutical protocol, and the scientific and clinical data about CLEAN&SEAL.
